How To View Port Status And Optical Module Information On EXTREME Switches

Optical modules work in the switch usually need to read the internal information of the module to understand its working status, such as the module connection and real-time collection of light, temperature, etc., through the identification of the module information can be detected by the module and the switch's coding compatibility; then how to view the working status of the optical module in the process of use as well as the internal information?

The following is an example of accessing EXTREME X690-48x-2q-4c switch with Moduletek SFP-10G-LR-BIDI optical module, to show you the specific operation of reading the information of the accessed optical module on EXTREME switch.

1. Status of optical module

Execute the command "show port port_number configuration " to view the interface information, add no-refresh after this command to cancel the automatic refresh;

The information output under this command contains the interface rate, duplex mode, module type, module link state (state A is a prerequisite for the work of the optical module), while providing a different character content of the analysis.

Note: port_number is the interface number where the module is located, you can determine the interface number according to the switch panel; if you do not know the interface number, you can not enter it, and the information of all interfaces will be output at this time.

2. Switch identification of the module

Execute the command "show ports port_number transceiver information detail" to view the identification information and digital diagnosis of the optical module on the interface.

The output of this command has two parts of information, one is module identification information, including module type, model, vendor, serial number, wavelength, etc. Non-EXTREME certified module Media Type will show Unsupported as an alarm;

The other part of the information includes real-time data diagnostics and threshold range, while providing status information, the status of "Normal" indicates that the DDM data is normal, you can pay attention to the state to understand the two ends of the device on the optical module working status is normal.
